One Goh, the man who shot and killed seven of his fellow students at Oikos University in Oakland Ca, has not eaten since he was booked, three weeks ago. His reason? Shame.
“This is not a situation where it’s a hunger strike, “ said Sherriff’s office spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson. “He’s not protesting anything. You sit around and you look at those walls and you feel shame and you are not hungry.
“A lot of people who are facing serious charges come in to Santa Rita jail and don’t eat… What is uncommon is this has now lasted three weeks.” He also added “He has the right not to eat. We can’t force him to eat.”
Nevertheless, Goh has been moved to the prison’s infirmary, and if he loses consciousnesses, he will be given an IV to maintain his well being.
He has lost 20 pounds since he was apprehended April 3, after he shot and killed seven of Oikos students after what he said was years of being mocked and rejected, particularly for his poor pronunciation of English. Many of the students at the Christian university are of Korean descent.
Goh is expected to plead guilty in a plea deal when he faces a judge on April 30.
