Charles Barkley, the former NBA star and current television analyst, put his two cents in regarding the presidential race during a broadcast of an NBA playoff game on Sunday night. Romney was at the game between the Atlanta Hawks and the Boston Celtics with his wife Ann. He was shown talking with people in the stands at the TD Garden in Boston during the telecast of the game on TNT.
“We’re going to beat you like a drum in November,” Barkley said. “Don’t take it personally. You seem like a nice guy, but you’re going down, bro.”
Barkley works for TNT as an NBA analyst and switched his political affiliation from Republican to Democrat. Barkley called the GOP presidential candidates ‘idiots’ for unfairly criticizing President Obama. Back in 1995, as a Republican, Barkley considered a run for the governor of Alabama, his home state. He never ran in 1995 but the idea arose again in 2010, but this time as a Democrat. During an interview back in 2008, Barkley declared himself as apolitical.
“I do not use words like liberal or conservative,” he said. “You can ask me a question and I will give you an answer. Those are words rich people on television use to divide and conquer. I am pro-choice. And if gay people want to get married, that is none of my business.”
