On Wednesday morning, a series of earthquakes around Orange County rattled residents but did not cause any reported damage.
“It shook us pretty good. We’ve felt earthquakes before so it came as no surprise,” said Chris Nordyke, director of marketing at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda. “It shook open the door but nothing fell off the shelves.”
The earthquake occurred near Yorba Linda close to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday and authorities said that no damage has been reported yet. Many business and residents are having their property inspected today. The earthquake was upgraded to a 4.5 after being downgraded to a 4.1. The police department in Brea evacuated the building to check for damage but none was found, according to Lt. Santo Porto. “There’s no damage in either city that we’ve heard so far,” he said.
Officials from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office also said they had not received any reports of damage from the earthquake.
“No one really freaked but everyone sure felt it,” said Roxann Reeves, an employee at a local Starbucks. “We’d all just been talking about the one last night.”

The series of earthquakes began on Tuesday night around 11:23 p.m. near Yorba Linda. The second strike occurred one minute after the first. Until 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, close to a dozen aftershocks hit the area that ranged in magnitude from 1.2 to 2.2.
