The law firm of McCarter & English LLP has announced that attorney Thomas O. Hoover has joined the law firm in its Boston office as a partner. Hoover works as an intellectual property attorney. Hoover’s practice focuses on copyright, trademark and patent law.
“Tom is an exceptional IP attorney and a welcome addition to our high technology practice,” Elizabeth A. Hanley said in a press release from the firm. Hanley is the head of the law firm’s Intellectual Property group. “His technical background and legal experience are a great benefit to our clients and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
Hoover has worked on developing and overseeing U.S. and foreign patent portfolios for universities, corporations and venture funded start-ups. His work includes patent appeals, patent reissues, prosecuting patents in front of the US Patent and Trademark Office and interferences.
Hoover holds a J.D. from South Texas College of Law and an A.B. from the College of the Holy Cross. Hoover is permitted to practice law in Massachusetts and in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also permitted to practice law in front of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Hoover previously worked at Weingarten, Schurgin, Gagnebin & Lebovici LLP.
