In a report from ABC News, a man from Oregon needed just 55 minutes to find himself back in jail after being released. The man, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Franklin Weaver, exited Lane County Jail as part of 32 recently released inmates. Police from Eugene said that Weaver walked roughly one mile and decided to rob a bank following his prison release.

Weaver was apprehended by police at the Pacific Continental Bank and taken back to Lane County Jail. There were no injuries reported during the robbery of the bank.

“This is pretty fast, someone getting released at 11:00 and then they arrive back 55 minutes later,” Sgt. Carrie Carver of the Lane County Sheriff’s Office told ABC News.  “I can’t say it’s the shortest time, but it’s certainly the most notable because of the nature of the crime.”

Carver said that Lane County law enforcement officials were forced to release 32 of its inmates so the county could balance its budget for the year. Those who were released had been jailed on various charges that included drug possession, assault, drunk driving and sex abuse. Weaver had been in prison for violating parole for unlawful use of a vehicle and for sex abuse.

Weaver was ruled to be a flight risk by Magistrate Judge Tom Coffin during Weaver’s initial trial at US District Court. Carver said that Weaver is going to be behind bars for “as long as the feds pay for that bed.”
