The law firm of Quinn Emanuel has announced via a press release that Sam S. Sheldon has joined the firm as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. Sheldon is a former Deputy Chief of the Financial Division and head of the Health Care Fraud Unit of the United States Department of Justice. He is going to lead the brand new Health Care Fraud Group at the law firm.
John Quinn, the firm’s managing partner, said, “We see the health care fraud practice growing exponentially over the next decade. We believe Sam has the combination of subject matter expertise, credibility within the DoJ, and charisma to lead our efforts in this area.”
The co-managing partner of the D.C. office and a leader of the firm’s white collar criminal practice, Bill Burck, said, “Health care fraud was a natural addition to our white collar practice. I look forward to working with Sam.”
Sheldon added, “I am extremely pleased to be joining Quinn Emanuel. They have the most former federal prosecutors of any firm, so in many respects it will be like coming home. And, having all that talent will help me grow the firm’s practice in the health care fraud area.”
Sheldon was awarded the 2011 Exceptional Service Award from the United States Assistant Attorney General. He also won the 2010 Special Achievement Award from the United States Attorney General for Sustained Superior Performance of Duty.
