Deegan said the following about joining the firm: “I am excited about the prospect of helping Sidley clients navigate the complexities of international deals, and I’m looking forward to adding additional value to the firm’s existing capabilities across its global Energy practice.”

Jim Rice, a partner in the firm’s Houston office and the co-coordinator of the firm’s Energy practice, said, “Tom’s recruitment underscores Sidley’s ongoing commitment to the continued growth of our global energy practice. Given the recent and continuing boom in the production of natural gas and oil from shale formation the U.S., which will support potential LNG export projects, the timing of Tom’s arrival is perfect as he can help us advise clients looking to capitalize on the opportunities this creates. His vast experience will greatly enhance our ability to assist Asia-based and other international corporations with their U.S. energy sector investments, as well as U.S.-based and other international oil and gas companies in connection with their global E&P activities, energy project development and finance matters.”
