Co-Chairs of Bankruptcy Practice of Cadawalader Join O’Melveny & Meyers

On Tuesday, O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced the boosting of their bankruptcy and financial restructuring practice with the arrival of John J. Rapisardi and George A. Davis, both former co-chairs of the Global Financial Restructuring Department of Cadawalader Wickersham & Taft. They are joined by Cadawalader bankruptcy partner Peter Friedman.

Rapisardi and Davis would be joining O’Melveny as Global Co-Practice Group Leaders of the law firm’s Restructuring Group. Friedman will join as a partner in the DC office of the firm.

Speaking on the occasion, Bradley J. Butwin, the Chair of O’Melveny, said, “We are thrilled to welcome this preeminent team to the Firm … We have many clients in common, and John, George, and Peter’s arrival will increase our ability to serve these clients in restructuring projects, bankruptcies, distressed transactions, and related litigation. By combining their acclaimed practice with our West Coast, Asia, and Europe capabilities, we will have one of the premier global Restructuring Practices.”

Rapisardi said, “We are excited about joining such a collaborative group of lawyers and contributing to the growth of O’Melveny’s New York and global transactions capabilities.” Davis was similarly enthusiastic and said, “With an excellent team spanning both coasts, Asia, and Europe, we will be able to provide seamless service to clients.”

Rapisardi, was a member of Cadwalader’s Management Committee and has 30 years of domestic and international restructuring experience across a range of industries. He was recently inducted into the American College of Bankruptcy, an honorary professional and educational association of tenured and highly regarded bankruptcy professionals. He earned a J.D. from Pace Law School in 1982 and received an LL.M. from New York University School of Law in 1985.

Davis is a leading restructuring attorney, and has been involved in high-profile restructurings for more than 20 years. He has also been an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching bankruptcy and creditors’ rights.
