Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C . have taken a couple new partners on board at their New York office, with John Bae joining its Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Commercial Law practice in New York as a Member, as well as Jonathan Talansky joining their Tax Practice as a Member.
Bae brings with him his wide experience as a shareholder with GreenbergTraurig, where he gained his global expertise representing multinational companies in financial restructuring, cross-border insolvencies, and commercial litigation – taking on both debtors and creditors and a range of bankruptcy cases. And all this was built, ultimately, from his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany and his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
“John brings a wealth of global experience handling major restructuring matters,” said Richard E. Mikels, Chair of Mintz Levin’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Commercial Law Practice. “He will make a very important contribution to the growth of our New York practice and will be a welcome addition to our national team of bankruptcy and restructuring attorneys.”
Talansky, meanwhile, was nabbed from Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett LLP, where he had acquired a range of experience where he had advised clients on buy-outs, joint ventures, and public company mergers. This grew from his initial achievement of graduating cum laude from Harvard Law School, and before that, his bachelor’s degree form Columbia University, where he graduated summa cum laude.
“With ever more complex corporate tax issues being presented in the global marketplace, the demand for sophisticated tax counsel continues to surge,” ” said Michael Lieberman, Chair and Manager of the Mintz Levin Tax Practice. “Jonathan brings an extensive background handling tax issues related to cutting edge transactions and makes an outstanding addition to our tax practice.”
In acquiring these new members, Mintz New York continues to expand and instate solid talent in their pool of attorneys.
