Dr. Conrad Murray walked free on Monday, less than two years after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Murray had received an initial sentence of 4 years when he went to prison, but was released due to prison overcrowding and exemplary behavior. According to media sources the doctor is now going to become a singer.
Murray’s lawyer Valerie Wass said Murray was anxious to readjust to his family life. She said, “He wants to take some time and see his family.” Murray, 60, has an actress girlfriend Nicole Alvarez, 31, and a 4-year old son from the relationship.
Wass also emphasized that had Michael Jackson been alive, he would have been outraged at Murray being imprisoned. She said, “Michael considered Dr. Murray family … I believe Michael Jackson would be greatly relieved today. He would be absolutely appalled if he knew what’s gone on the last several years.”
Murray is appealing his felony conviction and has also filed documents in Texas to block the revocation of his medical license there. Pending his criminal appeal, his license to practice medicine in California remains suspended.
The jury that convicted Dr. Murray of involuntary manslaughter had found that the cardiologist had been reckless in providing surgery-strength anesthetic to Michael Jackson as a sleep aid without proper equipment.

During his sentencing, the trial judge had observed that the good doctor was more concerned about his $150,000 a month paycheck than the well-being of his famous patient.
Murray maintains he did not have any role to play in the King of Pop’s death, and that he did not administer the propofol injection that led to Michael Jackson’s death. He said, Jackson had self-administered the final injection.
