It seems these days everything can be put up for auction, including one’s virginity. In desperate need of money, an eighteen year old girl sold her chastity online, according to The Huffington Post. “I am in urgent need of money, so I am selling the most precious thing I possess,” she wrote. The young girl also posted that she had a certificate proving she was a virgin and that she could meet the next day to be deflowered. She referred to herself as “Shatuniha” and sold her innocence for 900,000 rubles which is about $27,700.
The Russian teenager also broke no laws with her virginity auction. Siberian police commented, “We have no right to give a moral assessment of the girl’s actions.” It was not the first time the girl tried to sell off her innocence. She tried once when she was seventeen. Her actions also do not cross into prostitution, which is another reason police cannot interfere with the strictly business transaction. Shatuniha is smart too by posting, “I can come to a hotel at Predmostnaya Square with a document confirming my virginity, and with a person who will take the cash and leave, so that I am not fooled.” The winning, more than above average bid was placed by Evgeniy Volnov.
