A missing woman has finally been found, according to The Huffington Post. Connie McCallister first went missing when she was a sixteen year old honor student in August of 2004. After going to a party with her then twenty-two year old boyfriend, he refused to bring her home. Instead he drugged and abducted her from the party and took her to Mexico. When she finally managed to escape him she was left stranded due to the fact that she did not speak Spanish. She eventually got a job and made a life for herself with the goal that one day she would return home to The United States and her family. While she was in Mexico she had a baby. Then she met a different man and settled down, getting married and having two more children. Though she is eager to finally go home, the now twenty six year old mother refuses to leave Mexico without her children. Wausau Police Capt. Greg Hagenbucher stated, “We have confirmed, through conversations on Skype, that this is really Connie, and she did ask for help in getting home, but she won’t come back without her children.” Connie’s aunt, Florence Volzka, commented that she never gave up hope in finding her niece and that she knew Connie would find her back to her family. Judy Weise, a close family friend, expressed, “We’re just so excited because this story will be a happy one. Not many families can have this happy ending.”
