The University of West Florida and Stetson University College of Law announced that they are partnering to offer a 3+3 program, starting in August 2015, which will allow aspiring attorneys to reduce the time they spend working toward a law degree. President Judy Bense announced the 3+3 program. A “3+3 JD program” or “BA to JD program” is a program in which students combine certain requirements of a bachelor’s degree (usually a BA) with the requirements of the Juris Doctor degree. Students thus usually receive their bachelor’s degree after completing the first year of law school. Typically, students complete the two degrees in six years rather than the usual seven. This allows high-performing students to earn their bachelor’s and juris doctor degrees in six years, rather than the traditional seven years. Students will spend three years at UWF and three years at Stetson Law.

Next summer, According to pnj.com, the University of West Florida will offer aspiring attorneys a new way to reduce the time it takes to obtain their law degree through a partnership with Stetson University College of Law.
Students accepted into the program will be paired with a law student; faculty or alumni mentor and are eligible for scholarship consideration. Stetson University College of Law is also a long-time partner of the University of West Florida.
