Founded by Carl Stotz in 1939, Little League Baseball and Softball is a non-profit organization based in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania in the United States. Officially named Little League International, it is a non-profit organization which organizes local youth baseball and softball leagues throughout the U.S. and the rest of the world. Each league can structure itself to best serve the children in the area in which the league operates.

The coach of a California Little League is suing one of its own players according to an article posted on The Bleacher Report. The Lakeside Little League team’s coach, Alan Beck, is suing his own 14-year-old player for accidentally hitting him in the Achilles tendon with his helmet after a walk-off hit, reported to Mike TeSelle of Sacramento’s KCRA 3. Alan Beck told Fox40.com that the incident occurred last spring, when the teen threw his helmet up in victory after scoring a winning run, this is when he was injured. Alan Beck alleges that it was the player’s “carelessness” led to the helmet hitting him in his Achilles tendon and tearing it.

The coach of the little league team is asking for more than $500,000 for pain and an additional $100,000 for lost wages and medical bills.

The father of the 14 year old player, Joe Paris, has called the lawsuit “absurd,” and Alan Beck told USA Today’s Ted Berg that he would drop the suit if the teenage player apologized. The legal community does not believe this case will hold any grounds in court.
