Arrest Made in Hoffman Drug Case

Three men and a woman were arrested late Tuesday night in connection with the drugs found in Philip Seymour Hoffman.

According to CNN, law enforcement officials said, during a raid on the people involved, police recovered 350 small plastic bags of what they think is Heroin. The bags found were marked with the words “black list” and “red bull.” The markings on the bags of Heroin were not the same markings found on the bags found in Hoffman’s apartment.

The raid happened at 302 Mott Street in Manhattan, where the four individuals were arrested as part of the investigation into Hoffman’s death. The suspects have been identified as Juliana Luchkiw, 22; Max Rosenblum, 22, Robert Vineberg, 57; and Thomas Cushman, 48. Three of the suspects  were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Cushman was not prosecuted because there was no evidence he had any control over the drugs. The three entered not guilty pleas.

According to CNN, Vinberg had Hoffman number on his cell phone and police found the largest amount of Heroin in his apartment. Edward Kratt, Vineberg’s  attorney said that he hopes prosecutors won’t use his client as a scapegoat. “These charges don’t have absolutely nothing to do with Hoffman’s unfortunate death,” Kratt said.

The attorney for Luchkiw, Stepan Turano, said she also had nothing to do with Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s death, stating she really didn’t know the actor, other than seeing him in movies and that she was at the “wrong place at the wrong time.”  A medical examiner spokeswoman in New York said Wednesday that a determination of the cause and manner of Hoffman’s death is pending further study, including toxicology reports.
