Rancho Feeding Corp. Recalls 8.7 Million Pounds of Beef Products

More than 8.7 million pounds of beef has been recalled by a company in Northern California, according to a report from The Huffington Post. The reason for the recall is that the beef was processed from unhealthy and diseases animals without a complete federal inspection. The announcement was made on Saturday by federal officials.

The company, the Rancho Feeding Corp., has been receiving criticism from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service recently. The amount of beef recalled by the company is just over one year’s worth. The agency announced that due to the lack of a full inspection, the products are not fit for consumption.

The products were made between the dates of January 1, 2013 and January 7, 2014. They were shipped to distribution centers and retail stores located in Texas, Illinois, Florida and California.

The products involved in the recall include liver, beef carcasses, tripe, oxtail, veal bones and tongue. At the end of January, more than 40,000 pounds of meat was recalled by the company that had been produced on January 8. The meat was recalled because there was no full inspection completed.

An ongoing investigation into the company discovered the issues with the meat. No reports of illnesses have surfaced yet. Some of the products recalled were still frozen and yet to be sold.
