White & Case LLP, one of the oldest and most prestigious law firms in New York has signed the lease for a 440,000 sq ft new office at 1221 Avenue of the Americas, the Rockefeller Group has announced. The law firm intends to relocate in 2017 to the new space that includes the top floors in the building as well as below grade space.
Located between West 48th and West 49th Streets, 1221 Avenue of the Americas was developed by The Rockefeller Group in the modern expansion of Rockefeller Center to the west side of Sixth Avenue.
David N. Koschik, a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee said, “After a thorough review, we have identified a new location for our New York office which enables us to create a more modern and efficient workspace to better service our clients and to create a state of the art workplace for our employees.”
Mr. Guiltinan, senior vice president and head of leasing in New York for The Rockefeller Group, said, “The Rockefeller Group is extremely pleased that White & Case has chosen to relocate to 1221 Avenue of the Americas … White & Case considered many locations throughout Manhattan, and their decision to lease space in 1221 affirms the desirability of midtown …”
The tenant was represented by Ken Siegel, Tom Doughty and Lisa Kiell of Jones Lang LaSalle. The Rockefeller Group was represented by an in-house team led by Ed Guiltinan, along with a Cushman & Wakefield brokerage team led by Executive Vice Chairman John Cefaly.
Designed by Harrison Abramovitz & Harris, 1221 Avenue of the Americas is distinguished by its large, efficient floor plates and expansive open-air plazas that surround the building on all four sides. It is among the largest buildings in Manhattan to achieve LEED®-EB certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
