A lawsuit has been filed against Porsche Cars North America, Inc. in relation to the accident that killed actor Paul Walker and his friend Roger W. Rodas.
The lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles-Central District by the widow of Rodas, Kristine M. Rodas.
Walker and Rodas were at a charity event on November 13, 2013 for victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The two men left the event that night in Rodas’ 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. According to the lawsuit, the Porsche was driven only a couple hundred yards when it malfunctioned, leading to a crash that resulted in the deaths of both men in the vehicle.
The vehicle was being operated at 55 MPH on Constitution Road when it went out of control and spun off the right side of the road. Evidence from the scene and further inspection by experts found that the right rear tire steered left, causing the vehicle to turn clockwise to the right.
Rodas attempted to fix the situation by steering the vehicle to the left, but it was an unsuccessful attempt. The vehicle eventually crashed swiped a tree and slammed into a pole.
