Landon Thomas, 25, left his apartment on 145th St at around 5:30 pm April 27.

“The plan was, I get back from work and as soon as I get back we start moving,†said Roman Zanishka, his 25-year-old roommate. Zanishka explained Thomas’ punctuality and policy of calling if he will be more than 15 minutes late. “I sent him a text. I thought it was strange, but maybe he had just stepped out.â€

Thomas’ brother agreed, saying “This is really out of character. He was back home in October for a wedding and he seemed fine. He was his regular happy self.â€

He must certainly have had a regular happy self for the community to seek him with such fervor: Harlem has been plastered with fliers, as have the major transit hubs around the city.

“Harlem is completely posted up from 135th to 155th,†said Zanishka. “If you are going to buy a soda can or if you are taking any public transport you are going to see this.â€

What’s more, his friends have created a Facebook group, drawing in 480 members inquiring into his whereabouts.

“People have been incredibly helpful and we appreciate everything,†said Zanishka. “A lot of his grad school friends and his college friends have been very useful. Everyone has been calling the hospitals and posting fliers. It’s kind of a testament to how wonderful and friendly he is.â€

The Battle Creek police officer who is visiting New York to give special attention to this case said that finding a person in New York City is “like finding a needle in a haystack.â€

He hopes to return to New York to continue the search this Thursday.

Before he went missing, Thomas spent most of his time studying for the bar exam, as he had been offered a job at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office if he passed.
