Richmond, Virginia-based McGuire Woods will acquire London’s Grundberg Mocatta Rakison. The merger will add 36 attorneys to the McGuire roster.
US law firm McGuireWoods LLP announced today that it has reached formal agreement to combine practices with 36-lawyer London-based international practice Grundberg Mocatta Rakison LLP (GMR). The agreement will become effective as of 1 May 2009. The London practice will operate under the name McGuireWoods London LLP.

McGuireWoods’ London office will focus on areas in which both firms already have an established track record, namely corporate, banking, litigation and private client and tax work
McGuireWoods is a 900-lawyer firm that has offices in 15 US cities including New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles and Chicago. It has existing international offices in Brussels and Almaty. The firm’s London launch follows its April 2008 merger with Charlotte banking firm Helms Mullis.
