Summary: Just months after his team won the Stanley Cup, Patrick Kane is being investigated for raping a woman in his waterfront home that he met at a nightclub.
Patrick Kane, a South Buffalo native and Chicago Blackhawks hockey star is being investigated by Hamburg police after a woman accused him of sexual assault. The incident is claimed to have happened last weekend. Kane has a residence in Hamburg that police searched on Sunday.
The woman had a rape kit test conducted at a hospital but no charges have been filed at this time. She claims he took her to his home after meeting her at a nightclub Saturday night and raped her.
Kane has had other legal problems, including an incident six years ago with a cabdriver in Buffalo. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, which is a noncriminal violation. His cousin also pleaded the same after the two assaulted a taxi driver in his cab one morning. Paul J. Cambria Jr. represented Kane is this case and will be representing him during the investigation.
The National Hockey League and the Blackhawks are aware and following the investigation. Kane is supposed to bring the Stanley Cup to Buffalo as part of the Blackhawks’ celebration this weekend. Just two months ago, Kane was holding the Cup over his head after the team won the championship.
