We’re all constantly bogged down with tales of baddies in the news, and it’s refreshing to discover a story about good deeds and good people. While this heartwarming video was published over a year ago, we felt the need to share it today to bring some sunshine to your afternoon.
Last year, Mike Ehredt published an inspiring video called “One Life, One Flag, One Mile: A Summary of Project America Run II.” He documented over eight months of his journey around the country, honoring 6,500 fallen veterans.
For 81 days, the inspirational Ehredt ran a daily marathon, staying with host families after each run. During the runs, he would place a flag for every casualty of war. He started the project in 2010, running from Astoria, Oregon to Rockland, Maine; and in that period, he placed, 4,424 flags, one every mile for every lost soldier and Marine that fought in Iraq. Each flag had a yellow tag with the name of the solider honored.
In 2012, Ehredt finished his mission. He ran 2,150 miles, placing the final 2,140 flags that symbolized every soldier and Marine who died in Afghanistan. His project finished by Veteran’s Day 2012 in Galveston, Texas.
