Summary: Perfection is not attainable and reaching for it only creates more stress than necessary.
One of the most important things that I’ve learned over the past few years is that perfection is not attainable and reaching for it only creates more stress than necessary.
Think about it: do you ever put things off until you’re “ready?” Do you ever wait until things are “just right” to take the plunge, give something a chance, go after a dream?
Guess what? There is no such thing as perfect. I am not perfect. You are not perfect. Nobody’s perfect. And you want to know why? IT DOESN’T EXIST.
Do you ever flip through your Instagram feed or your Facebook feed and run across that one girl from high school that you will just never measure up to? That other coach/runner/friend who always looks gorgeous and has 50 likes in 10 minutes? They may seem perfect, put together, and in control, but they aren’t. There’s something behind that screen that you can’t see. So stop comparing yourself to other people, because you will never know their real story.
Focus on YOU and YOUR story.
It’s so key to remember that you are enough right now – just the way you are. Don’t wait to go after the things that you want. I promise, it won’t be easier once you’ve hit some “goal,” even though it seems so now. Your dreams will be just as scary then as they are now, and you’ll never move forward unless you put your fear behind you and jump.
I challenge you to jump today. No matter how big or small, do one thing that you’ve been putting off until you’re “ready.” You might fail, but you’ll have pushed past that fear and be able to get up and keep on going.
